CountIQ customer story

Reliable people counting across a major public hospital network.

DDI Labs and Tritech Solutions deployed CountIQ across four major hospitals in New South Wales, meeting strict government hospital IT and CCTV security requirements at scale with no new cameras.

Network-wide attendance visibility
The challenge

Flying blind across four hospitals.

The district needed a people-counting system that could support demand management, staff rostering and a clearer view of how facilities were used across the network.

The hard part was the operating environment. The solution had to work inside strict government hospital IT and CCTV security requirements, keep cameras on private networks, and avoid creating a pathway into sensitive systems.

The architecture

No public exposure. No cloud-to-camera path.

A dedicated proxy-server configuration kept every camera on a private, segregated network. Metadata moved outbound to CountIQ through an isolated VM over TLS.

Attendance and occupancy data

Cameras stayed on the hospital network. The outbound data flow was segregated from internal systems while CountIQ provided attendance and occupancy visibility across all four hospitals.

Measured outcomes

Delivered across the network.

CountIQ gave the health district a single people-counting system across four hospitals, using the Axis camera infrastructure already in place.

Why it worked

Secure by design, practical at scale.

Built for secure environments

The architecture kept cameras off public networks and isolated outbound metadata from the hospital's broader IT environment.

Efficient at scale

DDI ACAP deployed across compatible Axis cameras in a single process, reducing setup effort across a multi-site rollout.

Reliable by design

Configurable storage and event export help retain count data if a camera or network link is interrupted.

Purpose-built analytics

CountIQ turned existing camera infrastructure into attendance data for demand management, staff rostering and network-wide insight.
