Automating dock access at International Towers Barangaroo.
International Towers Sydney, managed by JLL, used DockSense to automate booking validation, boom gate access and bay visibility across one of Sydney's highest-volume commercial loading docks.

Hundreds of daily dock movements still depended on manual validation.
The Barangaroo South loading dock supports three main towers and handles over 350 deliveries plus 100+ casual vehicles per day. Dockmasters needed to validate bookings, update statuses, operate boom gates, check vehicle height and keep bays available.
JLL saw an opportunity to use existing cameras and booking systems to reduce repetitive checks, improve the tenant and driver experience, and give the on-site team a clearer operational picture.
Camera-driven automation from arrival to exit.
DockSense connected licence plate recognition, booking APIs, on-site AI and a driver kiosk so approved vehicles could move through the dock with fewer manual touchpoints.
Licence plate recognition
Dedicated LPR cameras and external infrared lighting identify vehicles accurately enough to automate valid booking arrivals and exits.
Booking integration
APIs update booking arrival and completion events, pre-fill plates and connect the gate workflow to the existing booking system.
On-site AI
Local processing tracks vehicles to bays, shows bay availability and preserves privacy by keeping video off public networks.
Driver kiosk
Drivers scan booking QR codes, receive real-time compliance feedback and get clear directions without manual dockmaster checks.
More automation for guards, drivers and building operations.
More than 90% of all bookings now move through with zero human intervention. JLL reduced the dock's manual administration load, improved the accuracy of booking and vehicle records, and achieved return on investment within 18 months.

Fewer manual checks
Valid bookings can arrive, open the boom gate, complete on exit and update the booking record with little to no guard intervention.
Better dock visibility
Dockmasters see available bays, where vehicles are parked and whether large vehicles need attention before access is approved.
Audit-ready records
Every vehicle entry, exit, whitelist event, blacklist event and booking update is recorded for operational review.
Lower idling time
Automated access reduces time spent waiting at boom gates, helping lower congestion and emissions around the precinct.
The dockmaster can focus on operations instead of administration.
JLL's site team highlighted that QR code scanning, licence plate recognition and AI vehicle tracking largely automated entry administration, helping vehicles move off surrounding streets and into the facility more efficiently.
